As all Social Planning Council organizations do, the SPC responds to the immediate needs of the Williams Lake and surrounding area. In the past 18 months, the most pressing immediate need of the community has been recovering from the impacts of the Wildfires of 2017 and 2018.
The SPC initiated the Post Wildfire Social Impact Network, its first meeting took place in September 2017.
Two more meetings were held, one on November 4, 2017 and second on January 19, 2018 with the goal to facilitate communication between groups to share each other's mandate, scope, and timeline potentially identifying any gaps thereby increasing the overall effectiveness of recovery efforts to better serve the community.
