About CEP
Communities Ending Poverty is a multi-year initiative led by the Social Planning Council of Williams Lake & Area, and is part of Tamarack Community’s national CEP network—a collaborative movement across Canada dedicated to reducing poverty through local action and shared learning.
The initiative brings together people from all sectors—non-profits, government, business, education, and lived-experience voices—to revive and advance the Thrive Poverty Reduction Strategy and create systemic change at the community level.

Poverty Reduction Game Changers

A poverty reduction Game Changer is a strategy or focus area that not only achieves its own goals but also creates ripple effects of positive change across the community.
These Game Changers—first identified through the original Thrive Poverty Reduction Strategy and now advanced through Revive Thrive—guide the community’s ongoing Poverty Reduction Action Campaign. Grounded in a collective impact approach, the Communities Ending Poverty (CEP) Leadership Table brings together diverse sectors to align goals, share data, and turn these Game Changers into tangible, community-led achievements that reflect current realities and needs. |

Current Focus Areas
The CEP Leadership Table is currently working on:
- Strengthening partnerships that improve access to essential supports and services
- Expanding community-driven food security initiatives through the Central Cariboo Community Food Hub
- Promoting local action and collaboration through pop-ups, forums, and lived-experience engagement
- Building awareness and understanding of poverty as a shared community issue
