FIRST WE EAT, was a huge hit. This funny and insightful documentary by Canadian filmmaker Suzanne Crocker is about eating only locally-grown, harvested, or hunted food around Dawson City, Yukon, in Canada's North, for one year.
THE LINE-UP provided opportunities to:
share ideas for food security on one of our dot-voting boards
see a display of local foods available in our region in the middle of winter
learn about the community's Food Hub Project
talk with Suzanne about the film, and some of our food security challenges and solutions
bring a non-perishable food or cash donation that goes directly to local food programs
This free event was hosted by the Central Cariboo Community Food Hub project (a project of the SPC) with funding and resources gratefully provided by United Way BC. Big thanks to the Williams Lake Film Club for their support.
Other learning events or initiatives of the Food Hub include:
Pierogi Making Workshop
Community Seed Saving Meeting & Workshop
Local Food Gleaning Project
Mobile Seed Cleaner Tour
